Objectives of hospitalization in the ward:
- To provide treatment by a multidisciplinary team to patients requiring permanent artificial respiration and who suffer from complications of prolonged ventilation and other multi-systemic damage to body and mind.
- To perform respiratory rehabilitation and weaning from respiration.
- To prepare and guide the respirated patient and his family for continuation of treatment and coping with the new situation within the community.
- To improve the daily functioning of the respirated patient and achieving an optimal quality of life.
The unit provides medical, nursing and paramedical solutions, using innovative and advanced technologies for treating a variety of respiratory problems. The treatment of respirated patients is a long and sometimes difficult process and we will do everything in our power to make your stay easier.
The unit’s team:
The ward has a multi-disciplinary, professional team:
- A close medical team under the supervision and management of specialist doctors.
- A skilled nursing team with special training in treating respirated patients.
- Skilled carers who are at the disposal of the patients at all hours of the day.
- A paramedical team that includes physical and occupational therapy.
- A nutrition team of a counsellor and an instructor.
- Speech therapist – qualified to treat swallowing, language and speech problems.
- Social worker – support, assistance and guidance for the patient and his family.
